Wednesday, we launched a Kiva loan for $10,000 to support Outlaw Soaps growth and proliferation! I was FLABBERGASTED that the loan was fully funded in under 36 hours... that's TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS in under 36 hours!!!! (with a matching fund from ebay) HOLY MOLY, OUTLAWS! Not only that, people were...
On Sunday morning at around 1:30, I couldn't sleep. Some personal stuff was affecting our ability to rest, and both Russ and I were tossing and turning.
Bored but unable to sleep, I checked my email. And then I clicked a link in the email...
HOLY CROWS, Y'ALL! WE ARE FULLY FUNDED!
We're 80% to our goal.

Now that matching is active, we need $1,000, and then we're DONE. That's 40 more people contributing just $25.How often does $25 double when you spend it?Today, it does (through the 100% matching). How often does $25 have 6x as much power as it does in your bank account?Today, it does (through 100% matching, and buying 3x as much product through volume and shipping discounts).
Over the past week, we've posted a couple articles about our upcoming Kiva Loan.
If you want to contribute to our crowdfunding loan, here is our borrower page.
Though I know many of you are aching to loan us money already, we wouldn't feel right about things unless we in some way exhibited our credit-worthiness in terms other than a high charisma score and ass-kickingly awesome products.
This is our entire company:
Our goal, in case it isn't obvious, is to become a widely-distributed lifestyle product manufacturer. We want Outlaw Soaps to be a household name, on par with Old Spice and Burt's Bees, while still maintaining our high quality manufacturing, small business mentality, and general enthusiasm for YOU.
Wow. Well, wow. I am ... wow.
The other day, I posted about how we are going to be getting a $10k loan in a couple weeks. Within not long at all, people were asking how they could contribute to the loan.
The quick answer is: SOON. It was going to be March 1, but it may be sooner.
summary: we're paying off the $5,000 loan we took out last year so we can get another, bigger loan.
longer story: Last year, we crowdfunded a $5,000 0% interest loan to pay for supplies in greater quantities.
It was a smashing success, and we were able to leverage that money in ways that I have outlined here. We were even invited to the first ever Kiva in-person event at San Francisco City Hall as a success story.
The loan was a real game-changer for us, since not only did it enable us to buy in greater quantities, it also helped us get our new shop set up in Antioch.
If you've been following along, you'll know that we recently moved again, but this time to our dream location....
