You're on the run, and the best place to hide is up the mountain.

  • Smells of pine trees, pine cones, campfire, and damp earth.
  • Provides an everyday hideaway from Karen from HR’s BS.
  • Like taking a wonderful walk through the woods, but with fewer squirrels.
  • Made with love and laughter (and all-vegan oils.)
  • Cures cabin fever (and no copay!)

Rocky peaks and tree-studded paths smell of freedom and promise. A whiff of campfire on the breeze, the scent of pine and cool stone clear your head. There’s a little wet earth from recent rains...but not enough to leave a trace. When you’re on the run from life, the best place to hide is always up the mountain.

Yes, you’ve reached your hideaway.

And here at your mountain refuge, you’re free.

This handmade lotion is thick and smooth, made from high quality naturally derived ingredients.

ABOUT OUR PRODUCT Made in the USA in small craft batches

All our products are made in small batches, by hand, right here in the USA.

All our scents are skin-safe and long-lasting. Because we feel like scent is a personal thing to be shared between you and those literally closest to you, these are subtle scents. They will not overpower a crowded elevator or make you "that guy with all the cologne." They're designed to create an ambiance, not an impact.

OUR OUTLAW PROMISE We’re committed to good product practices

We have serious commitments to our values:

• Our products are cruelty free and are never tested on animals (heck, we don’t even bathe our dogs)
• We focus on sustainable business practices and our products are made in a low-waste facility (we use one of those little garbage cans every week, no more).
• We source our materials from ethical companies who do not promote the destruction of the environment. Our fragrances are all made in the USA and are regulated by the FDA.
• We regularly contribute to charitable causes that are close to our hearts (the SPCA, the Sierra Club, the Pacific Crest Trail Association, the ACLU, and many more).
• Our employees make living wages above the minimum wages in our area, work a flexible schedule, and love their jobs.

Who We are A LITTLE COMPANY IN THE FOOTHILLS OF THE SIERRA NEVADA MOUNTAINS

We are Outlaw Soaps. We’re a tiny little company in Gold Country, California, in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. We live fast and take chances, but keep our rubber sides down.

Russ and Danielle Vincent started Outlaw because we wanted to smell like our favorite things all the time, not just on the weekends. So we started making soaps that smelled like campfire, whiskey, leather, sagebrush, the mountains… anything that struck our imagination. And over time, we perfected those scents and brought them here to you.

Reminds me of my life in the Maine woods

When I first used the lotion, I almost gagged. BUT, as my skin absorbed it, the scent changed and the pine took over. Before I moved to Alaska, I lived in a tent in the Maine wilderness, surrounded by my sled dogs. This scent reminds me of those years living under the pines. I rate the scent 4 stars because Fire in the Hole is my favorite.

Howdy Sharon! Thank you so much for taking the time to review your Outlaw loot! We're sorry to hear that you weren't as fond of Mountain Hideout as you are of Fire in the Hole! We're emailing you now.

Pleasantly surprised again!

First time purchase of Mountain Hideout lotion and WOW was I surprised. I suppose I was expecting more of just a woodsy tone.......which I got, along with a handful of other wonderful notes. This lotion scent is very complex, long lasting and has a great moisturizing base lotion that it is accompanied by!

One Sniff and I'm in a Log Cabin, Sighing Relief

It's hard to pick a favorite Outlaw scent -- it's more like there are different "categories" of scents such as outdoorsy, Wild West-esque, etc., and I have a favorite within each category. However, the Mountain Hideout scent has such a potent evocative power that I found myself letting out a yelp as soon as I caught the first whiff. Think pine trees in the mist, yet you've dried yourself off by the fire in your cabin, so there's an *essence* of damp earth, and the synesthetic "feel" of dry pine cones. The positive psychological association with the scent almost outweighs the tactile experience of the lotion (which, like all the Outlaw lotions, is of premium quality).

My life is better for these scents as they inject doses of tranquility into my day, and let my mind go to places a thousand miles away and to times bygone.
