We get lots of questions if we can make different product types... mostly, recently, we hear lots of requests for shampoo and conditioner (and specifically, shampoo and conditioner bars, because we're all enthusiastic about reducing packaging). Yesterday, Jonathan asked if we'd make beard butter and beard wash in our Facebook group, No Stinkin' Outlaws (which you can find here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/NoStinkinOutlaws)
We love to hear suggestions and truly appreciate that you love our scents so much you want to have them in everything!
I want to make sure you understand that even if we agree a product is absolutely a GREAT idea to make, it might not happen right away (case in point: the shampoo and conditioner bars).
It often takes years of working on a new product type to eventually bring it to some kind of regular offering on our website (let alone on Amazon).
Our natural body wash, for example, is an absolute STAPLE of Outlaw goods, but the product development of Outlaw body wash took AN ETERNITY. I thought we'd never get through the process. I even wrote a blog post titled "How to Make Body Wash in One Million Steps" if you want to read a throw-back to when we first launched our natural body wash: https://liveoutlaw.com/blogs/no-stinkin-outlaws/how-to-make-body-wash-in-one-million-easy-steps
And now we make thousands of bottles every month and just released our body wash refill pouches!
Sometimes we get lucky and a vendor we already work with makes another kind of product, which means they already have our scent and can start working on testing right away, but even the product testing is a long and arduous process.
There's Not A Lot Of Boldly Scented Products Out There
In the past few months, I've been shopping around the other unconventionally scented (often called "men's") products out there... shampoo and conditioner, deodorant, face wash... there's a lot of it, but there's not a lot of products that smell real.
I felt optimistic when I found something described as "bourbon and cedar conditioner," but was crestfallen to find it actually smelled more like vanilla and patchouli.
As I've made my way through the options available, I found the options sorely lacking.
As you may know, we recently brought back Outlaw natural, aluminum-free deodorant (for men and women) after a period of it being out of stock due to scent complications. (we're already out of stock of Blazing Saddles deodorant but more is coming soon)
People were PISSED OFF about offering such a great product, and then not offering it anymore. It's great. It works. It smells amazing. It's of exceptional quality. And then it was GONE like Kaiser Soze in Unusual Suspects.
We let people down (and truly, I am sorry. I know it's terrible to run out).
Having evaluated other options, it makes sense why people would say things like, "I'd rather be dirty than use the stuff I used to use" (actual quote from Joseph D on a YouTube video).
We know our scents are unique and our products are high-quality.
It's the foundation of what we do here. It's what drives us (that, and a pesky obsession with sustainable packaging).
With your help, we'll continue making these exceptional Outlaw products for years to come.
Thank you for your support, enthusiasm, and persistence in always pushing us to be the best Outlaws we can be.
Ok so…
I tried your Calamity Jane lotion.
I am hooked on the scent. I have just ordered the body wash and the solid perfume.
It is almost addicting.
Wait…maybe I am already addicted and in denial!
Seriously though I can’t seem to get enough of this scent.
Keep doing what you’re doing. It’s working!
