We are delighted to announce that The Connor Hotel in Jerome, Arizona, now carries Outlaw Soaps!
On my long and mostly (unfortunately) undocumented trip through the Southwest, I stopped in Jerome, Arizona.
Jerome is famous because it's where Billy the Kid met Wyatt Earp. It's part of a whole historic trail, which, honestly, is totally amazing. It's the desert. Traveling that whole area by horse would have been grueling and awful.
But now, I have my fancy and air conditioned Element. Hi ho, Element!
When you're coming down on Jerome from the West, you're driving down these windy roads and then all of a sudden, out of nowhere, there's a town on the side of a mountain!
The roads curve in hairpins and it's really very much like driving in Italy, except instead of Italian stuff, there's a bunch of outlaw-ey stuff. Basically, it's the perfect town.
Always up for a good Western wander, I moseyed down the street... checked out the mining museum and a couple tchotchke stores, and then was attracted by this glorious and lively sight:
(I pilfered the photo from their site)
I went in and found almost definitely one of the best gift shops on my journey and a trove of great gifts and cards. They already carry an excellent locally made bath and body line that even has a juniper and pine (iirc) room spray (that I seriously should have gotten -- foolish me), so mostly I was just chatting with the desk guy about that (and the town's uncanny resemblance to an Italian town).
I got some cards and thanked him for the great laugh, and left.
And then I was all, "wait. if I had such a great time in that store, I'm sure our customers will also have a great time... and the kind of people who would be our customers are definitely going to be in here!
So I plucked up all the pluck I could pluck and marched back in there with some samples and a catalog.
Well, it turns out, the guy was super nice, and la jefa (that means "the bosslady," which is also my job title) checked out our stuff and placed an order! We are so delighted and excited!
So if you find yourself in Arizona (and really, you should), stay at The Connor and pick yourself up some Outlaw Soaps! Tell 'em I sent you!
